Scale and outcome
Over roughly eight months (2021–2022), about 25,000 investors put in nearly $250 million; Alexandre showed fictitious returns on an app and used investor money for payouts and personal purchases. He pleaded guilty to commodities fraud, agreed to forfeit about $248.8 million, and in July 2023 was sentenced to nine years in prison and ordered to pay roughly $214 million in restitution.
